Work performed by an auto glass retailer outside the scope of the original GLAXIS Electronic Dispatch issued by an insurance company or third party administrator requires prior approval. Each insurance company maintains business rules to determine what items require additional authorization approval. Traditionally, glass shops utilize the phone to request these authorizations and receive phone and fax responses from insurance companies or third party administrators.
To eliminate this complex and time consuming process, each GLAXIS Electronic Dispatch contains job-specific information from the insurance provider regarding that job's additional authorization request requirements. As parts are added to a work order, the auto glass retailer's software alerts users when an additional authorization request is required.
Through GLAXIS, retailers can request an authorization from their point-of-sale application and receive a response back from the insurance company electronically. Phone calls, hold times, data-entry and fax transmissions are eliminated.
Approximately 85% of all authorization requests can be done real-time.
For the purposes of the GLAXIS authorization transaction, there are two basic kinds of authorizations – “real-time authorizations” and “electronic authorizations.” Real-time authorizations are those that can be processed automatically by the computer systems of the insurance company or third party administrator (TPA). Electronic authorizations are those that require a person at the insurance provider or TPA to manually review the authorization request and send a response to the retailer.
With the combination of real-time and electronic authorizations, ALL authorization requests can be processed through GLAXIS. Auto glass retailers will (almost) never need to call LYNX for an authorization request.
